Medical Guidelines International

In order to best serve the international patients, the hospitals and research institutes in India and other countries are ready with translation facilities, treatment plans, accommodation assistance and much more. The facilities attract more patients to India, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea. Apart from the medical and nursing team, Guest Relation Officers of Indian hospitals and research centres will be taking care of all the needs of patient and family. On the other hand, post discharge, in the case of a prolonged or advised follow-up, the patient/attendants would be required to stay in a guest house/hotel near the clinic or hospital and cost of the stay would be extra.

AVAN MediTour also provides a Guest Relation Officer to each patient for facilitating their assigned international patient and families and providing all the necessary assistance required for hospital registration, payments, appointments, admissions, medical billing, language translators, foreign exchange, registration with the Foreigners’ Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Multi-cuisine customized menu, visa extensions, locker facility, special dietary arrangements, local sight-seeing/ travel assistance, hotel & lodge accommodation outside the hospital.

Medical Guidelines  for International Patients:

Health checkup will be conducted over a period of two days. All the tests and preliminary doctors' consultations will be conducted on the first day. The second day will comprise of compilation of all your test results and a comprehensive physician's consultation.

Additional investigation and consultations may be advised if the health screen results in detection/ discovery of an abnormality.

On completion of health check, a comprehensive medical summary will be submitted to you comprising of relevant diagnoses, recommendations etc.

Pre-health check Guidelines

  • To make the process of health checkup a pleasant experience, adhere to these guidelines.
  • Abstaining from consuming alcohol at least 12 hours prior to health check is mandatory.
  • Carry your medical records that are 1-3 years old and medical accessories like spectacles, hearing aid and other things you need in day to day use.
  • Inform in advance if you want to undergo additional tests/ investigations/ procedures/ consultations at request or if required so that the Customer Care Executive can schedule your appointment.
  • Inform the medical officer at the time of the Pre-Health Check Evaluation for suspected pregnancy or any other illness.
  • Please do not apply cream, oil, or powder on your chest when you come for the check-up.
  • Wear loose-fitting clothes and avoid wearing jewellery like necklaces/ chains.
  • Wear sports shoes for the Treadmill test (Stress test).
  • Arrive early at the hospital as the day will be full of medical tests and investigations.

For women

Radiological investigations (X-rays) are not advised in the early stages of pregnancy.

Mammography is usually not recommended for women less than 40 years of age.

You are advised not to undergo the health check during ongoing menstrual periods. The results of the urine examination and the PAP smear get altered during this period.

In case of any of the following, inform the customer care coordinator immediately:

  • Present/ suspected pregnancy.
  • Missed/ delayed periods.
  • If you are menstruating, the PAP smear test cannot be done.

Special precautions

  • Inform in advance if you are a diabetic/ cardiac patient.
  • Kindly carry prescription/ medication along with you if you are taking any.
  • If you are a Diabetic on medication, please take the medication as per your normal schedule.
  • If you suffer from hypertension and take medication, please take the scheduled medication at 06: 30 am on the day of the checkup.
  • If walking on a treadmill is difficult you will be offered Echo Cardiography in lieu of Treadmill Test (Stress Test).
  • If you use contact lenses, please do not wear them on the day of health checkup.
  • Men may be required to shave their chest for Treadmill Test (Stress Test).

1) Website and E-m@il communication 24 x 7 : - 

As soon as we receive your medical query with the required reports, our patient coordination team of qualified doctors (international patient coordinator) pre assesses the case and replies you with a personalised message confirming the query and suggesting any medical reports requirement. 

2) Telephone – Medical Consultation 24 x 7 : - 

The international patient coordinator then personally calls you to discuss the case and any personal preferences. A personal telephone call is made at every point of communication establishing a personal touch. 

3) Medical and Hospitality Quote - 

On the receipt of all the required medical reports and doctors notes, our patient coordinator then sends the copy to the concerned doctor and discusses the case personally with him/her. All aspects are thoroughly discussed and negotiated including the suggested line of treatment, an average length of stay and package cost. It’s then communicated to the patient with in 3 or more working days. 

4) Video Conferencing : - 

If needed a personal video conferencing of the patient or his / her personal doctor is established with the operating surgeon for discussion 

5) Medical Visa Assistance : - 

On the final decision of the patient to travel to India, the passport details of the patient and the travelling attendant are obtained and a medical visa assistance letter addressed to the High Commission of India in their resident country provided. This enables to a medical visa quickly.

1) Air Travel / Air Charter Booking 

Air Travel booking and confirmation to and fro is done from our office. 

2) Airport Transfers 

Airport Transfers in an air conditioned car are provided as a part of a medical package. 

3) Ambulance 

Ambulance service, if required is, also provided at the airport as a part of the medical package.

1)Airport Care 

Our Patient Care Manager meets you at the airport and escorts you to the hospital. 

2) Pre Admission Care 

You do not have to wait at the hospital lobby for hospital admission. You will be escorted directly to the room booked for you and all formalities completed there. 

3) Daily Meeting & 24 x 7 Coordination with the Doctors, Nurses      & Hospital Staff 

We have a Clinical Coordinator and a Patient Care Manager stationed in each of our partner hospitals. The clinical coordinator meets the operating surgeon/doctor and communicates with the patient. The Patient care Manager arranges everything non-clinical including food etc. according to personal preferences. 

4) Post Surgery Care 

While staying in a guest house/hotel before you can fly again, the team visits you regularly. 

5) Tour Care 

If you select to go outside the city for a tour, you can call back to our clinical coordinator at any time of the day for assistance. Also, you may select to take a personal care assistant for personal care on the tour for a nominal fee. 

6) Follow up with Doctor 

On returning back to your country, we will communicate with you regularly to check your health and any follow up required with the doctor will be facilitated. 

7) Yoga, Physiotherapy, Meditation etc. 

Any monitored physical activity required post operation while staying in the guest house/hotel will be provided as a part of the package. The Physiotherapist will visit you in the guest house for the physical activity.
